Happy National Running Day!

Today's the day...

What are you doing to celebrate National Running Day? Are you meeting your run group for your weekly run? Inviting a non-running friend or co-worker to join you? Taking your family out for a jog after dinner? Trying a new workout or route? Maybe you're participating in a National Running Day event, like the NYRR Young Professionals Committee Fun Run and Happy Hour! (details here)

National Running Day is meant to encourage people to get involved, get moving and live a healthy life. To show people that running can change their life. (and that means running at any pace). I hope that through this blog, I'm spreading that word every day. Because truly, running has changed my life in more ways than I could have ever imagined. I've accomplished goals I never thought possible; running a 5k, then a 10k, and eventually a marathon! I have gained confidence and strength, learning about myself along the way. I have met friends. I have learned how to live a healthier, happier life. And I continue to learn these things every day. Even when I'm not running, because I'm still a runner!

I'll def be taking a little run today to celebrate! Running has shown me that I can accomplish thing that I had no idea I could. I used to think there's no way I could even run a mile.

I only started running consistently about nine months ago, but it's totally changed my life! I feel so much stronger and more confident, and I'm in awe of what my body (and mind!) can achieve. It's also been great for helping me keep my stress in check; running time is ME time! :)

Great day--should be a national holiday! ; )

I don't know what I would do w/o running in my life; it is so important to me!

hmmmm... well, i guess i will run after work if you insist.
just have to take it easy as i don't want to burn out for the weekends race. running has changed my life too, but biking and swimming have also been a big part of it as well. i get mad when i oversleep and miss a pre-work run (like today for example)

I ran through a monsoon of rain, and as intimidating as it was walking out the door in just shorts and a short-sleeved top, it ended up being a lot of fun! Running is a pretty incredible thing, hey. I love to cycle and hike and I used to dragon boat too, but running is the only sport that I've tried that's kept my blood sugars (Type 1, insulin dependent diabetic) in line!
