Pounding the Pavement

Gracela and I met at the fountain in Columbus Circle this morning at 9:30 for run in the park. I had to walk/jog through the park to get down there, and instantly I was excited to see all the people running, biking, walking their dogs! It was fantastic! You can tell the weather is getting warmer!
Posing Pre-Run

I had such a hard time trying to decide what to wear as I got ready cause I didn't want to be too warm or cold and the temp went up by 4 degrees in the hour I had been awake and the sun is shining, but it's quite breezy too. Anyway, the outfit I settled on turned out to be the right one. I also wore my new shoes - the Asics Nimbus - and I must report that they were great!! My feet haven't felt so good in months! I'm very excited and optimistic about these shoes. I went to New York Running Company on 3rd Ave yesterday to compare the Cumulus, but decided to stick with Nimbus and I'm glad I did. The Cumulus might have worked too, but so far, so good!

On to the run - we did the easy 5 mile loop, enjoying the sun, great conversation and a ton of company out on the road. Even though our speed wasn't too fast, I feel like it flew by! While I often run by myself, and am completely fine with that, it is great to run with friends too. Especially when you don't get to see them every day like you used to! My legs felt great, no problems with my feet. I haven't been running hills, so Cat Hill left me a little low on breath, but I caught it as soon as we hit the top. I definitely have to do some hill repeats before the MORE/Fitness Half, especially since it is 2+ full loops of the park!

I just finished a filling breakfast of peanut butter banana oatmeal with flax seeds and now Woody and I are getting ready to head to a local library in a bit. A nutritionist is giving a talk on 'How to Eat Healthy When the Economy Isn't.' Sounds interesting and it's FREE! If you're in the area, it's at 2pm today at the 96th St Branch (between Park & Lex) of the Public Library. Look for me if you come!

Hope you all have a great day!!

That talk sounds really interesting! The next time I'm in NYC or if you're ever around Baltimore/DC we should get together for a run! :)

Thanks for stopping by and glad to hear you enjoyed :) Your run sounds so much fun, I am new to running so haven't done a run with friends yet but will get there one day.

I haven't made a green monster with my shaker yet but will give it a whirl soon and let you know how it turns out. I have a magic bullet sitting in my kitchen still in the box but haven't used it yet--I need to jump on that!

I stumbled across your blog today and am so glad I did! It is pretty inspirational seeing someone who is so good at running! I am trying to get better at it myself but 5 miles is kinda A LOT to me at the moment =]
