Another weekend is ending. I’m not quite ready to endure the commute again but life moves forward. Ever wish you could teleport? I do! But that’s not the point.
Have you entered my giveaway yet? If not, go HERE now, then come back.
My alarm went off at 5:15am Saturday morning. As Woody rolled over and went back to sleep, I jumped out of bed and got ready to go. Every Saturday morning in August a local yoga studio – Core Power Yoga – is hosting a yoga class at Red Rocks Amphitheater. You know, the amazing outdoor concert venue that is the namesake for the Mumford & Sons film. I arrived a really early since I’m still learning my way around and how long it takes to get everywhere, so I was one of the first to get in. I climbed the stairs up to the entrance of the amphitheater but I didn’t have to get to the top before I was in awe of the view. Simply amazing.
I found a spot and settled in. What a beautiful way to start the day but I couldn’t help but be a little blue. As people filled the rows, it seemed the vast majority had come with friends or family and I was on my own. I enjoyed the yoga class but would have enjoyed it much more if I was there with my friends.
The class was great though – great teacher and inspiring view. The teacher was very knowledgeable and walked through the poses and flows at a good pace. I also appreciated that she wasn’t jaded by the situation. You could tell – she paused a few times to say it – that she was amazed by how incredible it looked to see hundreds of people doing yoga in unison as the sun rose. I was in awe of the setting and it was nice to know that it’s not just because I’m a newbie to the area!
Oh, the playlist was pretty fantastic too. Again, there was a DJ. I think I’m getting hooked on fitness classes with live DJ’s!
After class I hiked up about a billion steps back to the top to leave and found a ton of people in the middle of other fitness classes or gathering for them. As much as I loved doing yoga there, I’m not sure my lungs (or quads) could take a hardcore bootcamp class there. At least not yet. Definitely looked like a great workout and I got the name of one company (Bonza Bodies) that had a huge group there. You may be reading about them later on here….
Yoga on the Rocks is taking place at Red Rocks every Saturday morning in August at 7:00am. The class is $10 at the door with $1.00 going to the Whole Planet Foundation. For more info on the events, go HERE and if you decide to check it out, please let me know!!
Where have you experienced memorable views while working out – running, hiking, practicing yoga, swimming …whatever workout it might have been? * What are you looking forward to this week?

that'd be SO cool! Although, I must tell you that, as much as I love Mumford and Sons, Red Rocks is most famous for U2's live version of Sunday Bloody Sunday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EM4vblG6BVQ enjoy! :)
That looks so amazing! I'm looking forward to getting back to a routine this week. What I'm not looking forward to this week? School starting back. Boooo.
At least you were able to send summer out with a bang! Looks like you and your family had a fantastic trip!
Ah, thanks for sharing this Andrea!! Love it!
I did the reverse of your commute for about three months before I decided to move! I was living in Boulder County after I graduated from CU and drove down to work in Denver. 50 Minutes one way! Ack! Needless, I moved down, and live less than four miles from work. Would you two consider moving to Boulder, or does your husband work in Denver?
Red Rocks is always beautiful! Have you seen a concert there yet? I have seen those boot camp classes there - they are no joke! I'll have to try sunrise yoga sometime, but I'm still pretty bad at yoga overall. ;)
This is amazing!! I can't believe this is what yoga is like in Denver :)
Looking forward to friday already and turning in a vacation request :)
We did have a blast. Wanted to let you know, I started a new blog.... I have no idea what I'm doing on a new format.... but check it out if you want! http://susanmac99.wordpress.com/
