Vancouver in 56 Hours

The last few days have been so out of the ordinary I can’t even begin to explain!

A few days before Labor Day I found out that I’d be traveling to Vancouver, Canada to support an event for work. Because of the timing, I was able to stay through Saturday and fly back on the redeye Saturday night so I could explore the city. I love traveling so I wasn’t going to let this opportunity pass me by! Thursday and Friday were spent working. Well, 90% of the time anyway. I did get out in the evening to explore a little and Friday morning I went for a run! The hotel where I stayed was right on the water and at one end of the Seawall path which runs along the water. Stanley Park was absolutely amazing. I have never run anywhere with such incredible views and right along the water. Stanley Park could get anyone excited to run!

I took about a hundred pictures, and that’s really not exaggerating, but I’ll just post a few. Vancouver is a really gorgeous city that’s unlike any other I’ve been too. Walking around it definitely reminded me a bit of Seattle, but there are also Asian influences and also a California coast or Miami vibe. Even more, some places, like Coal Harbor along the water really reminded me of the Battery Park City promenade. Even though I only had a short amount of time to explore, I really loved the city and was sad to leave. And when I was walking around on Saturday I really wished that Woody had been there to explore with me because I know he would love it.

Well, I’ve edited down my large collection of pictures to these below for you.

So, there you have it. The abridged version of my weekend, in photos. Also, I’d like to mention that if you’re going to fly from NYC to Vancouver, I highly recommend Cathay Pacific – Premium Economy class. I can easily say that it was fantastic, even though I slept the entire flight out there!

I felt really comfortable and at home in the Vancouver and I do hope to go back sometime and explore more with Woody.

  • Have you been to Vancouver? What was your favorite thing about the city?

The water and how active everyone is!

  • What was the highlight of your weekend?

My Saturday a.m. run in Stanley Park!

  • What are you looking forward to this week?

Trying out my new Oiselle Team gear that arrived while I was gone!

Today’s workout -

None, except for a little stretching throughout the day.

I love Vancouver and I think you nailed a descrption very well... much like Seattle only more laid back and warmer and sunnier, too. I am glad you had such a great time there and your pictures are lovely.
I am a few short miles away, across Georgia Strait, on Vancouver Island... we like to head the to BIG city every once in a while to visit friends and family - we bought out sailboat on False Creek/Granville Island. They are thinking about extending the Sea Wall for several more miles so you will have to go back! :)
