Getting Back on Track

This will be really quick because I have a busy day and not much time this morning.

I wrote a couple weeks ago about my lack of motivation. Well, this week I am getting back on track! Since I know that I love running and it's really just a mental thing that's been keeping me from running as much as I should, I've made a commitment this week to run every day (other than my rest day). It's only Tuesday, but I'm off to a good start. Even if I run only 3 miles one day and finish my cardio workout on the elliptical, I'm running. (the treadmill just bores me to no end) The weather is supposed to be really nice this weekend, so I'm looking forward to getting out in the park and running a lap or so. It might even get into the 50's next week (crossing my fingers)! Great running weather if you ask me! I know that if I do run each day this week, the seed will be planted and I'll be out of my rut.

That's it. Told you it would be short today!

Question: Do you listen to music when you run? Does it matter if you're running on a treadmill vs running outside? (I only listen to music or watch the TV on the treadmill, but go it alone outside)

Once you get back into it, it will become routine and then you'll be good!!

I usually only listen to music when I run on the treadmill because just watching tv is not enough of a distraction! i like to not listen to it on the road so I can be alert and hear cars coming.

I never listen to music (then again, I rarely get on a treadmill). many of the routes I run have blind corners and I want to be able to hear the cars before I see them so I can be proactive - if you know what I mean.

Congrats on getting back to running!!

As for music, I used to rely on my iPod, but gave it up last Fall. I don't miss it at all. I do listen to music on the treadmill or trainer when I am inside though.

I always listen to music! Glad you're getting back into it, I'm trying to as well. Isn't it hard to ease back in and not try to do too much too soon?
